  Located in the historic Five Points neighborhood, Hayes Barton Café & Dessertery features nostalgic photos on the wall that create a retro feel. The theme carries through to the menu, with items such as Sid "Caesar" Salad, Three Stooges Beans & Rice, and the Bogey Burger. Of course, dessert is the star of the show at Hayes Barton. The eye-popping assortment includes a rotating selection of pies and cakes sold by the slice. Hayes Barton is open Wednesday through Saturday, with lunch served 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. and dinner from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Hours are extended to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

That's the intent of Chuan Tsay and Anna Phommavong, the husband-and-wife team who wanted to pay honor to the traditions of their Asian ancestors. In addition to hot chocolate, Heirloom Brewshop has a wide variety of specialty coffee and tea. The food menu melds Thai, Taiwanese, and Japanese flavors in dishes such as chicken rice porridge and slow-roasted Kurobuta pork belly. Heirloom Brewshop is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

  Steven Halaszi, the founder of Benelux Café, was inspired by a trip to Belgium and the Netherlands with his soccer team. In fact, the culture of "Benelux," which refers to Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, influences everything from the coffee and food to the decor. Be sure to try the Brussels-style waffles with toppings such as Nutella, cookie butter, and caramel sauce. Coffee is brewed in small batches from beans sourced from a family-owned importer working directly with farmers. Hours are 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. on weekdays and 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on weekends.

  Ordering from Berré Claire is like being part of the greatest secret club ever. This home-based dessert shop produces all your favorite sweet treats, along with many that have existed only in your dreams. Luscious hot chocolate bombs, decked out in specialty or seasonal touches, are one of their signature items. Other creative desserts include strawberry cheesecake egg rolls, brownie walnut-stuffed waffle cones, and candied grapes. Place an order online or via text and a pick-up address will be provided.
